Learning to Weave Soumak in Tapestries
In March/April 2025 I took an online course with Kennita Tully and learned soumak. To be honest, I didn’t think I liked soumak but I have discovered that using the soumak technique in some of my designs add texture and dimension to my work. Here are some images of the samples I created during the workshop.

Weaving a Tube
Watch as I weave a double weave rope tube on my counterbalance loom. There’s a trick to this process – and it’s a bit of a workout!

Something fishy!
I stitched a fish (it’s supposed to represent a salmon) as another sample for Fundy National Park! I’ll have this outside somewhere – probably in the old apple tree with the moon! It’s been “blessed” by using it as a “cod” in the mummers party on Jan 4, thanks to Maria Bourgeois!

Handwoven Rugs!
Handwoven rugs – available at The Artisan District in Fredericton and at the McCain Gallery in Florencville NB. They are approximately 2 feet by 4 feet.
