Tapestry piece woven on a small frame loom with a cotton warp and wool yarn. The light blue and dark blue are both hand-dyed; the grey is factory dyed and the natural is undyed. I have always been intrigued with optical illusions and the work of MC Escher. I used the Penrose Triangle design for this small tapestry. A Penrose Triangle is also known as the “?Penrose tribar,”? an optical illusion deemed an “?impossible object”? by the mathematician Roger Penrose. Optical illusions can create a split between how we see something and how that perception is skewed.
