Cardinal in the Snow

SKU: 2 Category:

Tapestry weaving with a cotton warp, wool, mohair and cotton. I live in Fredericton NB on the Saint John River. Occasionally we see a cardinal in our back yard eating birdseed that fell to the ground under the bird feeder. This tapestry portrays one of the male cardinals seen picking up one of those seeds in the snow. He is woven with different shades of mohair yarn that makes him a more “?hairy”? cardinal and his feet are covered with the snow on the ground. I used a glass bead for his eye and wooden bead for the seed in his mouth. Cardinals are said to be messengers, and I hope this little cardinal brings you messages of joy! Exhibited at Gallery78 (sold).
